I got in one trip to Arizona before the coronavirus pandemic hit. I was on what was to be a two week trip to do my annual inspection in Auburn and visit Oregon when California shut down in March, cutting the trip short. After that, it was mostly local flights for the rest of the year. I logged only 114 hours, the lowest of any of my years flying Cleo.

KTUS Tucson, AZ, February 2020 An E-3 Sentry taxied by as I was exiting the runway at Tucson. Little did I know my trip to visit the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum would be the last before the pandemic hit in earnest.

O89 Fall River Mills, CA, March 2020 A random scenic stop on the way home from Oregon.

KRNM Ramona, CA, April 2020 Relegated to local currency flights, I chose a particularly crummy day to do an approach to Ramona in LIFR conditions. The controller actually suggested not proceeding with the approach, which was rather unusual.

KMYF Montgomery Field, CA, April 2020 I was pleased to find a killdeer had nested mere feet from my tiedown.

Over Torrey Pines, CA, May 2020 The Air Force Thunderbirds did a flyover of San Diego and Los Angeles hospitals as a salute to medical personnel. I of course had to find a vantage point from above.

KVCV Victorville, CA, May 2020 A runway and taxiway at the Southern California Logistics Airport in Victorville became a parking lot for passenger jets that were suddenly not needed.

L54 Agua Caliente, CA, June 2020 A full moon rise aligned with Runway 11 at Agua Caliente.

KAVX Avalon, CA, August 2020 I discovered Catalina Airport had an on-field campground for Aero Club members. So I joined the club.
As the fog rolled over the airport, I was treated to a moonlit fogbow.

KHWD Hayward, CA, October 2020 While not apparent in this photo, the Hayward Air Rally had to be postponed because of low visibility due to smoke from all the wildfires in the area. We successfully held the event two weeks later.

KCCR Concord, CA, October 2020 The Hayward Air Rally modified its format this year due to the pandemic. Instead of flying to a weekend destination, we flew a single day event from Hayward to Bakersfield and then back north to Tracy. Among other things, this allowed most participants to avoid the need to stay in a hotel. No such luck for me, although this Crowne Plaza adjacent to CCR was pretty convenient.

Over Lompoc, CA, November 2020 The first Vandenberg launch in more than a year was a SpaceX Falcon 9 carrying the Sentinel 6A mission. It was the first time I saw the booster land at LZ-4; of the previous two landings there, one was at night and the other hidden by fog.
