01 Dec 06: Packing Day

I ended my previous entry mentioning two important questions for the seller:

- Everyone I've talked to wants to know if the domain name comes with the plane...
- Then they want to know if the stuffed tiger is included too. :)

The owner's answers were yes and no, respectively. The owner wanted the stuffed tiger as his keepsake. Well, that turned out just fine, because I now have his Flying Tiger's twin brother, courtesy of a good friend of mine:

His Tiger My Tiger

While packing tonight, I sacrificed space for an extra shirt or sweater or two to bring him along. I can't very well come home without a copilot, right?

Also today, I wrote the biggest check in my life. Well, it was actually a wire transfer, but it essentially was the same thing. The money went to an escrow agent for safekeeping until the conclusion of the pre-purchase inspection. When I bought my townhouse, I only wrote a check for the down payment. The bank paid the rest, so it doesn't really count as a check I wrote.

The wire transfer seemed to cause a little excitement at the bank. Because of the amount, they really wanted to verify my signature, but had trouble finding the signature card from when I opened my accounts. That was after checking my driver's license and bank card PIN. Being personally known to one of the bankers didn't appear to be of much help.
